Nathan Crane
Hey, welcome back to the podcast. I’m your host, Nathan Crane. Today, I am excited to have AJ Lanigan here with us, who is an expert in immunology from University of South Carolina, Columbia. And today, we’re going to be talking specifically about beta Glucan. Now, beta Glucan has a tremendous amount of scientific research over the last few decades in the field of the immune system cancer, anti-aging, oxidative stress, diabetes, stress reduction, asthma, burns and wound healing, cold and flu support, anti-inflammatory effects and goes on and on and on.
00:00:38:13 – 00:00:57:24
Nathan Crane
And so it is an incredible nutrient, basically, that I think everybody needs to know about. It’s something that I take very often and it’s something I want to get into the science about. With AJ here to share with all of you, if you’re not taking a beta glucan, you might consider it. So AJ, welcome to the podcast man.
00:00:58:00 – 00:01:01:20
Nathan Crane
Good to be talking with you again. It’s been probably a year or two since we connected.
00:01:02:08 – 00:01:21:10
Aj Lanigan
Yeah, I’m a live awake alert and enthusiastic down in Columbia, South Carolina. Great to be back in football. Weather and life is good. You know, it’s still about the alternative. So I’ll stick where I am right now. I’ll be 72 in December. So I’ve seen a lot, say, in 70.
00:01:21:10 – 00:01:23:11
Nathan Crane
Two. I thought you were in your fifties still.
00:01:23:13 – 00:01:55:15
Aj Lanigan
Well, you know, I trick some people every once in a while when I want to go out and talk to people about different things. And I have it’s getting harder and harder to to guess people’s age nowadays, because when I was born, I was raised on a 58, 58 acre farm not too far from here. And the food that I eat, we name the cows, you know, we didn’t name all the chickens, but we had our own chickens.
00:01:55:15 – 00:02:17:12
Aj Lanigan
We had our own cows. We, you know, you know, livestock. We had about an acre, acre and a half garden. And for like the first 15, 20 years of my life, that’s how I ate. Not everybody is is is blessed with that type of of a good start out of the gate.
00:02:18:16 – 00:02:34:20
Nathan Crane
Oh, I grew up I grew up on fast food. Well, first, you know, it was it was, you know, we would we would hunt and fish and all that. And and meat and potatoes and then it was fast food and then, you know, and I got the time I was 18. I was, you know, sick and nearly dead.
00:02:34:20 – 00:02:52:13
Nathan Crane
And then after San Diego, I switched to plant based diet and plant based ever since. And it’s been, you know, a game changer for me. But to your point, nowadays, most people are just eating primarily processed food, which is not real food, and certainly contributing to a lot of the disease epidemic that we see.
00:02:52:24 – 00:03:16:11
Aj Lanigan
I had a conversation with somebody over the weekend. We went to a football party out by the pool and they had some Kraft singles there and they said, Hand me a piece of that cheese. I said, No, no, no. If you see the bag, it says Kraft singles. Well, what do you mean? I said, Well, that’s because it’s less than 50% milk cheese.
00:03:16:17 – 00:03:20:13
Aj Lanigan
It’s got other stuff. I said, Never mind.
00:03:20:17 – 00:03:22:20
Nathan Crane
They can’t, they can’t even call it cheese. Yeah.
00:03:23:02 – 00:03:31:20
Aj Lanigan
But it’s right up in here with, you know, the, the, you know, all the other quote unquote cheese products. Anyway, it’s all about marketing.
00:03:32:04 – 00:03:49:04
Nathan Crane
Yeah, yeah, unfortunately. But let’s get into the real, you know, conversation today about beta glucan and the science behind it. And I mean, it’s just it’s I mean, there are a lot of so many studies on beta glucan, whether it’s for cancer, immune system, you name it. But there are different types of beta glucan is different sources, right?
00:03:49:04 – 00:04:03:15
Nathan Crane
The source is is important to understand and you know, maybe talk a little bit about that. So what is beta glucan? And then let’s start getting into, you know, what people need to know about it, how to use it, you know what it can support all that kind of stuff.
00:04:03:15 – 00:04:20:09
Aj Lanigan
When we use the term glucan, it’s a little about it’s a little bit like using the term paint. If I say go to store and give me some paint, you’re going to get red. You don’t get blue, you don’t get oil based on your water base. You don’t get something too shiny. You don’t get some of this dull.
00:04:20:16 – 00:04:44:23
Aj Lanigan
So paint is not very descriptor. It’s not very specific. Same thing with glue. Can you can get glue can from mushrooms. You can get it from seaweed, you can get it from bacteria, you can get it promotes and body. We use baker’s yeast specifically Saccharomyces cerevisiae a oh say that ten times right quick for you.
00:04:45:06 – 00:04:46:23
Nathan Crane
I don’t think anything I can say at once.
00:04:47:18 – 00:05:26:15
Aj Lanigan
And tougher to spell and a specific strain. You know, they’ve got people now specializing in genetically modified yeast. So there is much is a 70% lipids and fats wise that they can use for biofuel. We use a strain because we’re only interested in the carbohydrate portion. So glue can specifically beat out 1316 glue. Can we know the precise molecular structure makes up about 85% of the carbohydrate.
00:05:27:05 – 00:05:59:04
Aj Lanigan
So when we process the product, our job is to get rid of all the fats, get rid of all the proteins, because some people, you know, they have issues with with these proteins. And so we’ve got to get that stuff out of there. And that leaves us roughly with probably a 97, 98% pure carbohydrate, of which 85, 89 plus of the of the hundred is pure gluten.
00:05:59:10 – 00:06:28:03
Aj Lanigan
That’s what’s in our powder. When you swallow with it, it goes through the stomach and actually in the small intestine, you’ve got what we call hyers patches. And there’s these little cells called M cells that stands for Micro Fold, and they literally grab those particles, pull it through the lining of the intestine into the gall, the gut associated lymphoid tissue.
00:06:28:13 – 00:07:02:14
Aj Lanigan
That’s where the immune cells first see the glucan and literally start gobbling em up. Or are phagocytosis once inside the actually the macrophages is they actually digest that particle and secrete a water soluble molecule that’s a specific molecular weight that binds to the receptor of abuse cells. And as I like to say, terms of Woody Allen immune cells and the Schwarzenegger cells, now that’s a long explanation.
00:07:03:07 – 00:07:29:23
Aj Lanigan
But we got videos, we got cartoons. They can actually show this to you. But we were actually the first I was on the team that was on the first to show that I had a what I ate, material that was taken by mouth could actually be taken up into the gut. We did that up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s published in the medical journals now, actually got pictures first.
00:07:30:08 – 00:08:00:18
Aj Lanigan
What we did was we we took a die and died. The the the beta glucan powder before we fed it to mice. And then after they assumed room temperature, we plucked the, the, the blood out and showed the glue can particles inside those cells. So this is a proven fact. Up until that time, people thought it was impossible for it to be taken up orally.
00:08:00:18 – 00:08:30:06
Aj Lanigan
I was the first person out. They actually marketing an already dosed product that was proven to be taken up and of course now there are not a few hundred. When I started it was like seven or 800 studies on gluten on pub med. Now there’s over 200,000. And so this is a topic of great interest and it continues to be of great interest because as you opened the show, you talked about beta glucan being an amino modulator.
00:08:30:15 – 00:08:49:19
Aj Lanigan
You talk about wound healing, you talk about good health and digestion. You talk about anti inflammatory reactive. There’s a long list of things that the immune system umbrella covers and beta glucan causes those things to work more, better and faster.
00:08:50:16 – 00:08:58:09
Nathan Crane
So why why do you choose this this strain of beta glucan from baker’s yeast versus from mushrooms or some other source.
00:08:58:22 – 00:09:26:09
Aj Lanigan
Mushrooms are probably the oldest. And it also had to do with where we are in the world. If you’re in Southeast Asia, you’re in Japan. Mushrooms have been in the cornucopia of health for thousands of years. I like mushrooms and on top of my food, you know, I like to eat mushrooms raw. I would suggest you adopt that stuff off the base of it.
00:09:26:10 – 00:10:05:11
Aj Lanigan
You may not want to eat that, but that’s a water soluble glucan molecule. In fact, when you process blue cans from mushrooms, they actually boil it and they can get the gluten out that way. So that could have gone abuse, mushroom could be used barley. I could have used oats, I could’ve used seaweed. But what I did, Nathan I went and put materials actually in the hands of universities and teaching hospitals and had them actually test these things side by side.
00:10:05:22 – 00:10:37:22
Aj Lanigan
And we found that this particular Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the strains we use had the most immunological activity we can actually measure side to side what the immune system does and to what degree the second best glucan in the world is actually a drug called Pesky Creston. You can only get it as a prescription out of Japan. It’s $10 a gram and you got to use 3 to 6 grams a day.
00:10:37:22 – 00:10:49:11
Aj Lanigan
So you do about 900 1800 dollars, but that’s the second best one. Our product eight X the amount of immune response versus crested.
00:10:51:03 – 00:11:03:09
Nathan Crane
Yeah, it’s a big it’s a big difference so that’s the main reason is because you see a higher immunological response. The immune cells are getting a better response from this particular beta glucan.
00:11:04:17 – 00:11:34:17
Aj Lanigan
It’s and I’ve got this idea, we’ve over the years, we’ve got six different studies showing all the talk, not just brands, but also the sources and not just testing of the beta glucans we tested against different vitamins and minerals, probiotics. We tested against selenium, we tested against vitamin C, we tested against resveratrol. We found drastic differences in immune response.
00:11:35:00 – 00:12:08:01
Aj Lanigan
But then we turned around and said, Well, what if we married our beta glucan with vitamin C? Well, we found out we get a little bit more of an option, but then just the glue can load well. But what about with resveratrol? Again, we get just a little bit more of a bump. What about with selenium? So we’ve actually measured side by side and then we’ve measured as a combination and identified a list of things that actually further improve the immune response.
00:12:08:01 – 00:12:22:20
Aj Lanigan
And you get the benefits associated with resveratrol, the benefits beyond associating with selenium and so forth. So it’s it’s a great process. It’s called irrefutable science.
00:12:23:16 – 00:12:46:23
Nathan Crane
Hmm. So, you know, when I’ve talked to you in the past, there’s questions around, you know, the fact it’s coming from yeast and, you know, you’ve told me that, you know, you don’t have to worry about anyone worrying about yeast, right? Because of the process, you basically just process it, process it down to it’s just carbohydrate of the beta glucan itself.
00:12:46:23 – 00:12:50:07
Nathan Crane
You basically taking everything else off of it. And so there’s no.
00:12:50:18 – 00:12:51:11
Aj Lanigan
It is.
00:12:51:11 – 00:12:53:16
Nathan Crane
Protein in protein.
00:12:53:16 – 00:13:21:17
Aj Lanigan
It is the protein that causes these people the problems. You get rid of all the protein. The reason we get rid of the lipids is the lipids seem to block the uptake. Hmm. And so we’ve got to get rid of both the proteins and the fats and carbohydrates I would refer to as an inert substance. They don’t react with anything.
00:13:21:24 – 00:13:53:10
Aj Lanigan
So that allows it to be used alongside chemo radiation. It can be alongside any of your other medications. It can be, you know, whatever people are using it with, they don’t have any any problem. You probably don’t have any refined sugar in your house, but if you took a £5 bag of pure sugar and put it up on top of your refrigerator, you could come back ten years from now, tap the bag.
00:13:54:10 – 00:14:24:07
Aj Lanigan
Nothing’s changed. It doesn’t oxidize nothing. It doesn’t react with anything. The only way mess it up is if you spit in it. Okay, it right temperature. Then you start a science project or you put it in a frying pan and get it hot enough to caramel bars. Other than that, you know, carbohydrates are like nature’s armor. Look at the exoskeletons that are all lobster, crab and so forth.
00:14:24:14 – 00:14:31:21
Aj Lanigan
They’re made up of chitin. But again, a similar complex carbohydrate to develop cancer.
00:14:33:00 – 00:14:39:18
Nathan Crane
Yeah. Which they can you know, they leave their exoskeletons behind. Right. And, and it lasts for a very, very long time.
00:14:40:19 – 00:14:45:23
Aj Lanigan
Yeah. You add it up and turn it into glucose, remain the glucose.
00:14:45:23 – 00:14:55:02
Nathan Crane
And so the other thing I want to ask you was what does the research say about beta glucan in cancer specifically?
00:14:56:02 – 00:15:32:07
Aj Lanigan
Okay. Again, I want to emphasize the beta glucan molecule itself does not react with cancer. What it does is that molecule binds. Think of a key into a risk. We call it a receptor, but a key switch that activates immune cells. Now, what is the immune system supposed to be doing is supposed to surveil, identify, attack and eliminate things that don’t belong there, that include cancer cells.
00:15:32:18 – 00:15:56:04
Aj Lanigan
You’ve got cells such as natural killer cells. What they do all the time, all day long, if they’re working properly, is they look at a cell smiley face, they look at a cell smiley face, they look at a cell smiley face. They look at a cell that doesn’t have a smiley face by the bank, by the boom. You’re out of here.
00:15:56:12 – 00:16:32:00
Aj Lanigan
It doesn’t matter if it’s a cancer cell, if it’s a pre-cancerous cell, maybe it’s a cell that’s invaded with herpes. Maybe it’s a dead end or dying cell. But this is one of the various ways in which an immune system that’s working properly prevents you from ever being having to diagnose. I have people call me all the time, Nathan, and I say, Hey, you know, I hate to meet you under these circumstances, but the reason we’re having this conversation is because your immune system has failed you.
00:16:33:02 – 00:17:04:03
Aj Lanigan
And I’m not going to try to convince you to or not to do standard of care. That’s between you and whoever you’re getting your advice with. I would say understand all the good, the bad, the ugly of everything. Then make your informed decision. But as part of the process, you have to be supporting your immune system. You have to be getting that immune response up because again, that’s the only reason we’re having the conversation.
00:17:04:13 – 00:17:19:07
Nathan Crane
Right? Yeah. Dr. Thomas Loaded famously said it in my documentary film, Cancer The Integrative Perspective. He said There is a cure for cancer. It’s called Your Immune System. And if you have a fully functioning immune system, you wouldn’t have to worry about cancer.
00:17:19:18 – 00:17:31:12
Aj Lanigan
And he’s a he’s an M.D. and a JD have shared the podium with me to have great books. He’s got one of the greatest books on vitamin C that’s ever been written.
00:17:32:03 – 00:17:55:15
Nathan Crane
So how does it support with an anti inflammatory process? Like how does this support inflammation? Cause inflammation we know is one of the underlying causes of cancer. We know it’s an underlying you know, it’s an underlying condition with every major chronic disease, whether it’s diabetes, autoimmune disease, neurodegenerative disease, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s. Right. Inflammation and chronic inflammation is is associated with every single one of those diseases.
00:17:56:07 – 00:18:07:13
Nathan Crane
And chronic inflammation in the literature is a direct cause of cancer specifically. So how does Beta Glucan support the anti inflammatory response?
00:18:08:13 – 00:18:41:15
Aj Lanigan
People need to understand that inflammation is a two edged sword. It can be a good thing. For example, if the house catches on fire, you won’t have, you know, the firehose. You want to have everything to put that fire out quickly. Okay. You also want a rapid response to mitigate the damage. So if you break your arm, if you sprain your ankle, if you get a splinter, that’s the acute inflammation.
00:18:42:03 – 00:19:18:16
Aj Lanigan
And again, this is the immune system that is causing this all that plus mainly dead neutrophils. So chronic inflammation, the term you will use is when the immune system doesn’t turn off. It just keeps making chemicals and those chemicals are pro-inflammatory. Continuing to do damage to healthy tissue damage, tissue, it may very well turn into pre-cancerous tissue. So that’s the path.
00:19:19:03 – 00:19:47:20
Aj Lanigan
So a person needs to understand again, beta glucan as an amino modulator, some people have switches in their house. They simply flip all or flip off the lights. Some people have a little dial or a little lever where they can gradually raise the intensity or lower the intensity of the light. Well, they do. Glucan does. Again, when it activates immune cells, they know where they need to be.
00:19:48:17 – 00:20:00:17
Aj Lanigan
Beta Glucan helps them in that process of self regulation and they they will then mitigate that chronic inflammation.
00:20:00:17 – 00:20:13:21
Nathan Crane
Yeah. So they basically help regulate the pro-inflammatory cytokines that the immune system sends out, helps to basically reduce those down, regulate those cytokines. So there’s less inflammation. Is that what it is?
00:20:13:21 – 00:20:43:14
Aj Lanigan
Yeah, that’s exactly right. And also, if you’ve got a sluggish our our immune system that’s not working properly, part of the reason you’ve got chronic inflammation is damage that’s already been done that didn’t get cleaned up. Right. And so, again, you’ve got that sluggish immune system. There’s still hanging around. If the immune system working correctly, you’ll have phagocytes, you know, vacuuming up all the trash.
00:20:44:01 – 00:20:49:10
Aj Lanigan
Get it out of there. Boom, inflammation is gone now. That’s one of many examples.
00:20:49:13 – 00:21:15:06
Nathan Crane
Yeah. And so, I mean, to basically elaborate on that for people, the reason why the immune system might be struggling in a lot of cases is because of the constant damage that is happening to the body through stress. We know we know mental emotional stress regulates the immune system. Right. It’s activating a sympathetic nervous system response. You know, too much cortisol and norepinephrine so forth on a constant basis is going to downregulate the immune system.
00:21:15:12 – 00:21:26:18
Nathan Crane
Heavy metals and toxins are going to affect the immune system. Not enough sleep is going to affect immune system, poor diet, you know, too much processed food, too much highly processed sugar is going to affect the immune system.
00:21:27:06 – 00:21:54:21
Aj Lanigan
Not exercise compared to e-readers and chips. You know, while you’re watching the football game, shot’s not getting enough sleep. I understand that that a big part of the immune system’s job is to kill stuff and blow stuff up. So if you put it in in the context of an army, they get out there, they’re digging their foxholes, and all of a sudden here comes a dump truck dumping a bunch of garbage into Fatto.
00:21:55:14 – 00:22:37:24
Aj Lanigan
Now, these soldiers, instead of readying for a battle, should a battle arise, they’re busy messing without a job, right? That gets dumped into their house. So you’re not you’re not you’re not helping yourself at all. Do I say never have a beta? Never have a drink, never go to a midnight movie, whatever. But if it’s part of your lifestyle, your life is not going to be very good as long as it is you maintain that path, you won’t live at all and the quality of your life will suffer.
00:22:37:24 – 00:23:06:03
Nathan Crane
Exactly. That’s why I always teach, you know, get the fundamentals under control first, good sleep, stress reduction, meditation, prayer, you know, spiritual path, good diet, you know, mostly plant based as much as possible. Real food exercise, you know, stress reduction. All these things really work on the fundamentals. And then supplements can support. They’re meant to supplement, right? They’re meant to supplement and support a, you know, a healthy lifestyle.
00:23:06:03 – 00:23:29:12
Nathan Crane
And so the challenge is and I take supplements and I recommend supplements and and, you know, certain supplements that I research and I believe in, like this one here, I’m going to recommend it all day long because I’ve seen the research. I’ve, you know, we see the results, I take it personally. But at the same time, I never tell somebody, Yeah, I keep doing all the terrible things that are causing your diseases and just take the supplements can solve all your problems.
00:23:29:12 – 00:23:30:12
Nathan Crane
It doesn’t work that way.
00:23:30:21 – 00:24:07:19
Aj Lanigan
Right? We actually put beta glucan into some topicals and if you get a burn, okay. And I’ve had ladies, you know, take pictures of whatever and had this really wonderful young lady. She’s getting ready to be married. She she’s trying to impress her, her groom to be. And she’s going to took him fried chicken on Sunday afternoon. Well, she’s not that great a cook yet and nobody’s explained to her, you don’t drop wet chicken in the bowl and grease and it literally slow it all over.
00:24:08:10 – 00:24:31:20
Aj Lanigan
Burning her arms, burning her neck. Now, this is this is a a gal that’s going to be get their bridal photos made in about a week out. And so she was already taking a 100 milligram product. Okay. So our immune system is in good shape. We also put it in a topical, which she applied and she took before and after pictures.
00:24:32:03 – 00:25:02:07
Aj Lanigan
Absolutely incredible. A couple days later, you could not tell our bridal pictures were phenomenal. These healing processes that I’m describing are handled by your immune system and your immune response. People that heal slowly and people that don’t heal completely. These are prime examples of people where their immune system is not where it’s supposed to be. And it’s not it’s not just the 70 and 80 year old, by the way.
00:25:02:22 – 00:25:20:13
Aj Lanigan
You’ve got people in their twenties and thirties. They’ll get a little cut or scratch or they’ll fall in their knee. Two weeks later, you know, it’s still scabbed over and doesn’t look like this. He went very well again, I would point to that and say, Wow, you need to step up your immune support.
00:25:21:03 – 00:25:48:03
Nathan Crane
Yeah, well, and we’ll put a link below this video with, with discounts and everything for our community here. Who’s watching us to go and get your product specifically is the one that I take. It’s the one you’re talking about and that I personally recommend. But what I wanted to, you know, ask you too is, is there anyone who shouldn’t take beta glucan or who should be worried about it and say, have autoimmune disease or you know, they have you know, you kind of mentioned it.
00:25:48:22 – 00:25:59:13
Nathan Crane
It’s fine whether someone’s going through conventional treatment. Like, is there any cases where someone maybe shouldn’t take beta glucan and is there side to side effects that they need to worry about that?
00:25:59:15 – 00:26:39:18
Aj Lanigan
That’s an excellent question. As you’re reading through, again, a couple of hundred thousand studies, you won’t find much if anything out pregnancy. You won’t find much of anything on autoimmune disorders. You won’t find much, if anything, on transplants or grafts. The research has not been done. Now that given there’s also no reports of people that have been pregnant, people without immune disorders and people with with transplants or grafts having a problem.
00:26:40:07 – 00:27:10:08
Aj Lanigan
I want to air on the side of caution. In fact, I want to be overcautious. So if you are a transplant recipient and the doctor currently has you on drugs that are designed to suppress and depression immune system, I would tell you to not consider this product because is in any evidence it would hurt you. But there’s not been good work showing you’re bulletproof.
00:27:10:14 – 00:27:38:09
Aj Lanigan
The same thing I would say if you have an autoimmune disorder, okay. If you’ve got M.S., if you’ve got other you know, let’s be 90 going on 100 autoimmune disorders. And the list keeps growing, particularly if you are taking drugs, steroids, chemo and so forth. To shut down the immune response, I would say it would be prudent not to be using the product.
00:27:38:19 – 00:28:06:23
Aj Lanigan
Pregnant women again, we don’t know. I can tell you, my my daughter has given birth to a couple of wonderful children. The boys man is a snake. The little girl is a sweet is a she can be and she never missed a day. I don’t use that testimonial. I’m saying get with your pediatrician, get with your classically trained, trained medical doctor.
00:28:07:12 – 00:28:38:07
Aj Lanigan
Put them on the file. I’ll be happy to detail the mechanism of action. That’s what the doctors need to understand, because I’ve had people with rheumatoid arthritis, people with many different types. I won’t say ignore, but I say Always get your itch doc involved. Let’s have a solid cannabis nation. You need to be seeing that doctor on a regular basis basis anyway, and they can monitor you.
00:28:39:03 – 00:28:46:14
Aj Lanigan
But but as a as a class go rule, I would say no I would I would not recommend it for those, those three classes.
00:28:46:21 – 00:28:53:22
Nathan Crane
Transplant pregnant woman. And if you’re on some autoimmune autoimmune disease drug specifically.
00:28:54:05 – 00:29:21:00
Aj Lanigan
Yeah, if they’re taking drugs, the rule is for me, if they’re taking drugs that are designed to shut down the immune response, they they need to back away but involve the medical doctor if there’s question that I don’t know entail I got kind of a thick neck. Okay I’m also a swell up sometimes from flying coach. Okay. Okay.
00:29:21:08 – 00:29:48:04
Aj Lanigan
So I fall asleep, you know, my hair drops down and the little bullet holes, you know, that hangs down as I’m snoring, it beats that little piece of me and it swells up. So this happened to me about ten years ago. And I get up and I and I had I had eaten a bunch of oysters earlier that evening.
00:29:48:18 – 00:30:14:23
Aj Lanigan
And I’m thinking, boy, they might come down with hepatitis. They would come to, you know, if I got the the red tide. You know what? So it’s 3:00 in the morning. I get dressed, I go to the hospital. It’s nobody’s there. They checked me in. They they said, okay, you’re your little guy. Whatever it is is swollen. Probably nothing wrong, but we’ll have the doctor look at you.
00:30:14:23 – 00:30:35:19
Aj Lanigan
He did same thing. He wanted to give me a steroid. He wanted to give me an antibiotic, and he wanted to give me something else. And but he wanted to give me hives. I said, no, no, no, no. Just, you know, go down to the pharmacy, give me the pills, you know, if you if you feel so anyway.
00:30:36:00 – 00:31:02:13
Aj Lanigan
But we had had a fight over that. But the long and the short of it is I was given a steroid. And I’ve got to be honest with you, I played a lot of football with his young in fact, I played about three and a half years of semi-pro football. After about four days on the start of steroids, I kind of felt like I could strap on the pads and maybe go about three plays because it makes all the pain of everything go away.
00:31:02:22 – 00:31:25:14
Aj Lanigan
And but, you know, on a two week course, I didn’t I didn’t skip my I didn’t skip my beta glucan because, you know that that type of use was simply for that inflammation. But but people know if they’re on drugs that are designed to shut off immune response and those would be the ones I would zero in on.
00:31:26:07 – 00:31:49:16
Nathan Crane
Gotcha. So just to kind of recap here, I mean, this is you guys have been pulling a lot of this research together on this Beta Glucan site, which is great. A lot of what the research points to is the immune system support cancer through the immune system into aging, asthma, stress, diabetes, burns and wound healing. You talked about cold and flu and anti-inflammatory support.
00:31:49:16 – 00:31:53:08
Nathan Crane
So that right at the top kind of nine benefits that you’ve seen through the literature.
00:31:53:11 – 00:31:59:01
Aj Lanigan
Yep. But even glucan dot com, you can’t buy anything. They’re strictly for education.
00:32:00:00 – 00:32:12:03
Nathan Crane
I love it. And as you said, we were talking beforehand to I mean, you can just go to PubMed, right? And you can type in Glucan, for example, and see over 200,000 results on that by itself.
00:32:13:21 – 00:32:16:00
Aj Lanigan
Some 800 when I started.
00:32:16:00 – 00:33:02:03
Nathan Crane
Jason and we look at Glucan in cancer looking at 13,000 results, we look at beta glucan by itself as well, you know, over 20,000. So there is lots of research over the years and appreciate you taking the time to really dove into this and so yeah, for everyone tuning in, you know, the if you want to use beta glucan for yourself, obviously, you know, if you’re dealing with any of the, the things that AJ talked about, whether it’s an implant, you know, transplant and whether you’re on your own, kind of a permanent steroid or immune system blocker autoimmune situation like that, you know, talk to your doctor and and see if it’s right for you.
00:33:02:03 – 00:33:24:05
Nathan Crane
Obviously it’s not. You know, that’s something that you need to determine for generally everybody else, whether somebody has cancer, diabetes, heart disease, you name it, and they’re just looking for general health support or in helping their bodies to, you know, prevent disease. Again, supporting the immune system is what it’s about, right?
00:33:24:23 – 00:33:42:08
Aj Lanigan
Absolutely. And without an immune system, they did a study many, many years ago. I don’t know who funds some of this stuff, but they showed without an immune system, your flesh would start leaving the bones within 72 hours. So this kind of event is kind of important.
00:33:42:15 – 00:33:49:10
Nathan Crane
That’s crazy. Yes, what a crazy study. But, you know. Yeah, it’s good to know we need it every single, you know.
00:33:49:10 – 00:33:55:21
Aj Lanigan
But you know, and around you then you’ve got body sales. Yeah. So you can’t see them but they’re there.
00:33:56:16 – 00:34:08:08
Nathan Crane
So I’ll put a link below this video for everyone with a special discount to this specific beta glucan that we’re talking about. You can go check that out for yourself. It’s the one I take. It’s one that AJ has spent how many years now working on this?
00:34:08:19 – 00:34:10:16
Aj Lanigan
About 28 years?
00:34:10:16 – 00:34:14:09
Nathan Crane
Yeah. I was going to say almost 30. I thought it was 30. So yeah, almost 30 years.
00:34:14:09 – 00:34:47:19
Aj Lanigan
So one of my one of my good, good friends, professor just retired doctor Vaslav Vega at the University of Louisville has done many a study. I think he’s had over 200 plus studies, several textbooks written several books, actually, on my ingredient, he and I met Louisville a couple of months after we retired, and he says, hey, you know, you’re one of the last of the old guard when are you going to retire?
00:34:48:14 – 00:34:58:23
Aj Lanigan
You know, get somebody else to show up and say, hey, this is good stuff, you should use it. I said, I think I’ll make it look too easy.
00:34:58:23 – 00:35:17:08
Nathan Crane
Yeah, yeah. Well, good, A.J. Thanks, man. I appreciate you taking the time. Always good to connect with you. And thanks for thanks for doing what you do and helping people take back control of their health by empowering their immune systems. It’s something that we all can benefit from. So thanks. Thank you, man. I appreciate it.
00:35:17:09 – 00:35:19:18
Aj Lanigan
Have a happy day. Day. Everybody be safe. Be healthy.
00:35:19:24 – 00:35:21:00
Nathan Crane
All right. Take care.
